Movie Synopsis: JULIE DASH Dishes THE Rosa Parks story for CBS Television

Oscar ®, nominee Angela Bassett stars as Rosa Parks in the story that sparked the birth of the modern civil rights movement. Rosa McCauley is a smart and curious country girl from the deep south, a black child in a period when all humans were certainly not regarded as equal. At an early age, Rosa rebels against the accepted way of life and refuses to believe that she is inferior to anyone.

As a young woman attracts Rosa (Bassett) pointed out a handsome barber, Raymond Parks (Peter Francis James). Rosa eventually falls in love and marries him. Parker, smitten with his new bride, trying to make her life as happy as he can in these turbulent times.
Despite Parks’ efforts to protect her, Rosa forced to cope with many degrading and humiliating situations, including an attempt to register to vote when she is rejected, the white registrar forcing her to take a long social studies test, as she claims, Rosa repeatedly failed. Meantime. white registrants are not required to take the test.

A friend introduces Rosa into the burgeoning civil rights organization NAACP, as his secretary. She raises the question of the position of black people in society and when the students to stand up for what they believe.

Years later, Rosa Parks forever changes the appearance of segregation in the South. After a long day’s work, Rosa takes the only available space in the first series of “colored” on the bus. When a white woman boards and driver requires that the black riders in her face moves, the others stand. but not Rosa.

This unique event causing an outcry in the city, threw Rosa and her family into the Ku Klux Klan’s ring of hatred, and into the limelight of the NAACP. Is it possible for a woman’s efforts to change centuries of hatred and ignorance of his people?
